Ask-a-Geek: Weekly Online Sessions

For the near future, I’ll be doing Ask-a-Geek sessions online.

The current plan is that on Tuesdays I’ll put out a post with answers to questions that y’all have sent me.

Send your questions to learners@hsc.wvu.edu with the subject Ask-a-Geek. I’ll answer as many questions as I am capable of. The responses will be typed and/or audio, depending upon what you ask, and will all be available on our WordPress site (https://olliatwvu.wpcomstaging.com).

Remember that on Windows computers you can use the snipping tool to capture an error message or whatever weirdness you’re seeing. (See: Using Snipping Tool)

For many Apple devices like iPhones and iPads, you can press the Home button and the Power button at the same time to take a picture of what your screen is currently showing. You can then put the picture in an email message.

For Android cell phones, generally (but not always) pressing the Power and Volume down buttons at the same time will take a screen capture, but different phones will have different settings.

If none of these work for your device, you can generally go to google and search “Screen capture for” and the name of your device or version of your operating system.

So start sending in your questions and we’ll see how many I can answer!
